Mer de Noms is the first and only album by A Perfect Circle. It was released worldwide 22nd May 2000 and has since gone platinum. There have been three singles off the album, firstly Judith , followed by The Hollow and 3 Libras.
This song is about an intense desire for something. It describes the empty vaccum we feel inside us when there is something we know we  lack and want. Specifically, what the person in the song(and people in general!) desires is sex. the song expresses his constant craving for it. ''no consciencce, one motive- to cater to the hollow''  What he's saying is that desire runs beings and that they want sex so much that they dont care about anything else and have no conscience, which is true, people sometimes are so horny that they forget that others have feelings.  He also says that the hollow cannot ever be filled,  people will just never get enough.
A little background- In the bible Magdalena was a saint  who was blessed by Jesus Christ yet was also a prostitute. The line 'sell my soul...a dollar at a time' could thus mean two things.
1.The singer would sacrifice his soul for money to pay Magdalena for her services.(the idea of selling your soul to satan)
2. The singer is so enchanted by Magdalena's religious practices that he almost worships her for it .The 'one kiss, one taste of you' could just be a metaphor for closeness(not necessarily sexual). He wishes to associate with her a lot and  he would give up his dignity(humiliate himself) and bow to her to share in her worth.
On the other hand this song seems to also be about a witch. I read that 'moving temple' refers to followrs of the wicca religion being able to set up an altar and worship anywhere they happen to be. This would also make sense of the line 'earthly goddess'. I think this means to say that wicca is an earthy religion and far more natural and human than christianity, which sets very strict and unrealistic rules that you must follow.
A lot of peeople say that Madgalena is a stipper because strippers take off pieces of clothing one by one, ''a dollar at a time'', which also fits. As you can see the song has many sides to it.

As maynard has said, this track is essentially about 'blind faith'
Judith is a model Christian, faithful and true to her beliefs. She however does not stop to question anything that is given to her and this means that she can easily be manipulated. This ignorance and  extreme obedience then leads to her being hurt
This song is about rising up and breaking free from the controls of someone dominating who's holding you down by scaring or threating you with their power(like the song says, being a beast). At first the person let him/herself be pushed around and ''blown about'' as well as ''compromise their will'', which means they basically did what the person said and not what they wanted. The rose presumably represents the abused person, someone very soft and vulnerable.
A little background- Orestes, in Greek mythology was the son of Clytaemestra and Agamennon. Clytaemestra killed Agamennon and ran away with her lover. Orestes, in hope of avenging his father, murdered Clytaemestra.
The song is about breaking the bond that exists between mother and child. The physical bond, the umbilical residue here is used as a metaphor for the emotional bond. No matter how much you may hate your mother, you will still feel a strong sense of attachment or indebtation to her. In the song, the voice of Orestes is praying that he become numb to this feeling so that it will become morally easier for him to kill Clytaemestra.
'One more medicated peaceful moment' is describing the momentary tranquilized numbness that he has achieved .
I am going to interpret this song line by line. A/B/C ect refer to the stanzas and numbers refer to lines in that particular stanza.
A1/2 i say something simple to this person but they just turn their back on it, not  even trying to comprehend it's value/depth.
A3/4 ???
B It's hard not to feel dissapointed when I know you inside out, but you can't even understand my simplest words.
C1/2 I said it so see if there really was something great deep inside about u that I don't yet know
C3/4 I had the misconception that you were beautiful and heaven sent but you're so shallow that you're just tragic.
D1/2 I expected too much. not sure what he means by wounded though.
F (replyng to C1/2) apparently nothing... there is nothing behind or inside you,  you're just shallow.
A little background- Brena is the name of Maynard's fiance.
A major part of this song is about vulnurability and i'm not sure whether this refers to Brena or the fragility of a relationship.
In the first stanza, 'my reflection' means his soulmate, Brena. 'pulls me under healing waters to be bathed in Brena' Maynard is obviously trying to get across the fact that Brena is giving him life.
This song is about seeking forgiveness
I think this song is about failure being inevitable sometimes. The prince has a big ego and thinks he can do anything, but he kissed the sleeping beauty many many times and she still didnt wake up because no matter how confident you are, impossible things will always be impossible. you just have to know when they are and not bother instead of being arrogant and saying 'nothing is impossible'
Sarah(see guestbook) gave another interpretation and I think hers is als interesting. She says ''Sleeping Beauty is a person who is so convinced and blindly following either religion or the mold that society has created. They are ignorant of what reality is'' I think what she means is that the sleeping beauty is a blind and naive person,(she is asleep) just like one of the 3 libras. ''far too poisoned'' means that, like Judith, she was told things and she believed them and now when the singer is trying to tell her that it was a lie(wake her up) she rejects it because she's just so indoctrinated.
This track focuses on a tremendous sexual desire for someone.  The person in the song can't think of anything but the sex he's had with another 'unable to lose this image... spent and sweating with a look on your face' It's basically all very straightforward lament about their physical infatuation.
I think 'Sweet Revalation, Sweet Surrender' probably means that the girl was reluctant to have sex before but has given in(surrender) and is now enjoying(revalation) it.
The song is about the tiresome repetition of an issue.
